New Thrift Store Benefits Divine Mercy House

Whether you are looking for affordable summer clothes for your kids or a fabulous fashion find, you’ll want to shop at the new Divine Mercy House Thrift Store at 11018 Old St. Augustine Road, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Our new resale shop is a great place to pick up good quality clothes, furniture, electronics, home accessories and much more at bargain prices. In fact with the store’s summer markdowns, shoppers will find cute and trendy T-shirts and tank tops for just $1 each and jeans and slacks for $2.

Divine Mercy House Thrift Store offers a whole lot more than just affordable merchandise. Customers walk away with the satisfaction of knowing they are helping promote human life and human dignity by supporting the non-profit store that benefits Divine Mercy House and our resident moms and their babies

“Our home is now full to capacity, so our needs are great,” said Jodie Cetnar, executive director at Divine Mercy House. “The new Thrift Store is helping us operate and maintain the day-to-day function of our home and support our 11 residents. Profits have increased each month since the store opened in January, and we are very thankful for the community’s support of our efforts to help unwed mothers.”

Divine Mercy House Thrift Store, which relies on donations of used goods for its inventory, is run by Desiree Larkin, store manager, and a handful of very dedicated volunteers.

“We sell anything and everything, and people often donate very high quality items to us to resale in order to benefit single moms. So if you are frugal, prefer second-hand goods to endorse recycling or just enjoy ‘thrifting,’ you’ll want to stop by our store on a regular basis.”

Local residents are encouraged to help stock the store by dropping off any unneeded items that are clean and in good condition. In addition to clothing, the store is in need of furniture, electronic equipment and sporting goods. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Saturday during business hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To schedule a merchandise pickup at your home, call the store at (904) 268-9968.

The new thrift store is also in great need of volunteers to help sort, process and organize donations. “We now have five to 10 volunteers a week, but we need many more to help manage our inventory and assist customers,” Larkin said. “We are very grateful for anyone who can donate their time to benefit our good cause – whether it’s one day a week or even just a couple of hours a week.”
