How to Help
The Divine Mercy House has a number of volunteer opportunities available, in addition to financial needs to maintain the operation of the home.
Offering Your Time and Talent
A sample of volunteer tasks include, but not limited to, providing respite for the Resident Director on some evenings and weekends; assisting the resident’s with job and life skills training; computer training, resume preparation and other skills needed to secure a full-time position; offering the new mothers information and skills on infant care and nutrition. These are only a few of the jobs needed in the Home.
All volunteers who will have contact with the women and children are required to undergo a background check, finger printing and participate in the Catholic Diocese program “Protecting God’s Children.” Volunteers are also required to participate in several workshops throughout the year in order maintain their volunteer status.
Financial Support
The fundraising program for the Divine Mercy House will be a comprehensive effort. In addition to calling on the members of the St. Joseph’s Church family, we believe the Divine Mercy House will be viewed as a community-wide endeavor, benefiting many individuals of all faiths.
The Divine Mercy House is supported by the Mandarin Food Bank, area businesses and other generous contributors from area churches. However, like most non-profit organizations, financial assistance is needed to operate and maintain the day-to-day function of the Home.
