Time & Talent: Book Your Volunteer Time

2013-05-07 17.07.11Divine Mercy House employs a six-member staff that includes an Executive Director, Resident and Assistant Resident Directors, and three weekend staff positions. Each staff member fills a number of roles- from handling administrative tasks and coordinating fundraising efforts to serving as mentors and driving our residents to and from doctor’s appointments. Because running a five-bedroom home with up to 11 residents is a monumental task, we are continuously in need of volunteers who can lighten our load by lending a hand.

We need baby rockers who cuddle our babies while their moms take a break to work on homework, do laundry or cook and evening meal for all our residents. Another big need is drivers who are willing to transport residents to appointments, grocery stores or other locations. Divine Mercy House sponsors fundraisers throughout the year that require numerous individuals to plan and implement.

This is only the beginning of how you can help at Divine Mercy House! Whatever your God-given gifts are, we can use them at our home. Perhaps you love to garden and could help us maintain our grounds, or maybe your talents lie in crafting, sewing, cooking or baking- these are all wonderful skills to share with our moms. Come and share your gifts with us.

Happy Babies!

All Divine Mercy House volunteers who have contact with our women and children are required to undergo a background check, finger printing and participation in a class called “Protecting God’s Children,” found at Virtus.org. There is a small fee for the background check, but participation in “Protecting God’s Children” is free. We also ask that our volunteers participate in several staff guided workshops throughout the year to maintain volunteer status.
