Volunteer Forms
All volunteers who will have contact with the women and children are required to undergo a background check, finger printing and participate in the Catholic Diocese program “Protecting God’s Children” found at Virtus.org .Volunteers are also required to participate in several workshops throughout the year in order maintain their volunteer status.
A sample of volunteer tasks include, but not limited to, providing respite for the Resident Director on some evenings and weekends; assisting the resident’s with job and life skills training; computer training, resume preparation and other skills needed to secure a full-time position; offering the new mothers information and skills on infant care and nutrition. These are only a few of the jobs needed in the Home.
Divine Mercy House also has several committees that could use your help in order to be successful. We operate various fundraisers throughout the year and always welcome a helping hand to help plan and implement each one.
Listed below are other areas of need:
Administration Assistance
- Grant writing volunteer
Special Events Volunteer
- Assist in organizing a fundraiser or other outreach activities
- Organize a drive for supplies
- Coordinate a special project (baby shower, cleaning day, tea party, spa party, etc)
- Obtain tickets to local activities for the House
Cooks
- Cook weekly, monthly, or for a special occasion; (can cook with residents or bring a meal).
- Volunteers that love to bake who enjoy teaching others their special skill.
Teacher/Facilitator
- Teach a class (crafting, parenting, money management tips, healthy eating, interview skills, etc.)
- Lead a Bible study
Donations Volunteer
- Sort and organize donations
Transporter
- Transport residents to appointments, shopping trips, or run errands to assist staff
House Helpers
- Cover the House to give staff needed respite time. This task offers an informal and fun way to interact
with the residents and their babies. Evenings and weekends are available.
Baby Rockers
- Give the mothers a break in order to work on homework, wash laundry, cook, etc. by holding and
playing with their babies! This is a very rewarding volunteer position as each baby is a beautiful gift
from God!
Divine Mercy House Community Ambassadors
- Spread the word about the Divine Mercy House through out the community and garner awareness
and further support! Be committed to sharing the mission and the ministry with others so that Divine
Mercy House will further reach the Jacksonville area.
